New Mexico

  • On the Rio Grande
  • 22 acres
  • Sleeps 13
  • 1754 land grant

An adobe house of three thousand square feet on twenty-two acres of the Juan Montes Vigil land grant, drawn in 1754 — with the Rio Grande itself at the bottom of the property. Three bedrooms, three bathrooms, two solariums and a hot tub under some of the darkest sky in the country.

Room for thirteen — a whole family, a reunion or a retreat, with space to spread out. Santa Fe is forty minutes north, Albuquerque fifty south, and Tent Rocks is five miles down the road. The house can be booked here and nowhere else, and we confirm each stay ourselves.

Southern Illinois

  • Shawnee Hills
  • Walk to the wine trail
  • Sleeps 7
  • Dogs welcome

A house of its own in the middle of downtown Alto Pass — which in this part of Southern Illinois is the rare thing, because you park once and then walk. Alto Vineyards, the Quetil Trail and Havisham House are all inside five minutes on foot. Seven beds, a full kitchen, a deck facing the sunrise, and the dog comes too.

Further out, eleven award-winning wineries sit within forty miles, with Bald Knob Cross, Little Grand Canyon, Giant City State Park and the old orchards of the Shawnee hills all a short drive from the door.

What both houses promise

Two very different places, held to one standard. The country around the house is the reason you'll remember the trip.

  • The whole house to yourselves — never a room, never shared
  • Nature at the door, whether that's twenty-two acres or the trailhead at the end of the street
  • Wineries and walking within easy reach
  • Enough beds that nobody draws the short straw
  • Nothing on the schedule unless you put it there
  • Booked with us directly — a person answers, every time

More to come

Two homes now, and we're looking at others. The standard doesn't change: somewhere worth going, and a house worth having to yourselves.
